Caufield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project
This project is an exemplar for championing a reimagined relationship between large rail infrastructure and public amenity.
The project has delivered 22.5 hectares of open space, parklands and community areas, as well as seventeen kilometres of pedestrian and cycle paths, showing how major infrastructure projects can perform multiple functions beyond their primary transport role.
The jury commended the project team’s integrated thinking as an essential response to the pressures of intensification and population growth on our cities.
